Back with another addition to the D1 conferences list. In this one, we feature three that are distinct in their locations throughout the U.S. - the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference, the Mountain West Conference, and the Northeastern Conference.
As a student athlete, one of the most overlooked but important aspects is your nutrition. Think of it in the most simple way: food is your source of energy. As a person in your position, energy is what you need in order to make sure your efforts to excel on the playing field and in the classroom are not for nothing. Eating low-quality foods, will not only hurt you from a physical standpoint but eventually may also harm your mental side for a variety of reasons that differ from person to person. Here we’re gonna talk about the basics of student athlete nutrition.
One of the most overlooked aspects of being a student athlete is the mental side of it all. Put yourself in this position: you’re in the 4th quarter and you have to take the last shot with 5 seconds to go. Your palms are sweating, your heart is racing, and the anticipation fills the room. You grab the ball and take the shot…. It bounces off the rim. What now? Simply put, sports are hard. They’re hard on the body, and definitely hard on the mind.
Back with some more conferences! Here we talk about the Big West, Colonial Athletic, and Conference USA. For a better idea on the structure of our NCAA D1 Conferences Series look below to find the two already posted.
Many don’t truly understand the huge physical toll being a student athlete takes on one’s body. From all the hours spent in practice and in outside training sessions, you’d be an anomaly if you didn’t feel exhausted. However, there are measures in place that allow you to reach your fullest potential on the playing field or court. Here we’ll outline what you can expect from the physical side of being a student athlete.
Another D1 conferences blog - there are 30 conferences in total, so expect several more of these….that’s also not including all the D2 and D3 schools. Combined, the total number of conferences is actually huge. This can finally help paint a picture for how many academies there really are in the U.S., and with more schools comes more opportunity. In this one, we feature the three conferences: Big East, Big Sky, Big South.
College sports teams are one of the most fulfilling things any student athlete could be a part of. The joy of being part of a team of other individuals who all share the same love and enjoyment for a sport while also having the will and determination to compete at very high levels is second to none. Here we’re going to dive into what it’s like being a part of a team in college sports.
Continuing onwards with our D1 Conferences - we’ll be splitting them into groups of three by alphabetical order for ease of access (minus the Power 5 conferences which we’ll do in a separate blog). The format includes a little history and info about each one, the schools with tennis programs, and then 5 facts you should know about them right now. In this one, we feature the American Athletic Conference, the Atlantic-10 Conference, and the Atlantic Sun Conference.
What’s the first thing that comes to your mind when you imagine yourself playing collegiate sports? Is it the bright lights? Is it the dozens – maybe hundreds – of fans supporting you at each game day? Is it the great gear and perks? This may (or may not) come as a shocker to many, but being a student athlete at any institution is not as easy as you may think. It involves a lot of hard work, grit, determination, and…. time management?
Yes, time management.
Being able to set goals as a student athlete is vital to your improvement. Think of this as a rocket ship aiming for the moon - without a guiding path to help it land successfully, how will it ever make it? Similarly, if you have no trajectory for helping yourself achieve the heights you want to achieve, where would you find yourself? Goals are important because they add that extra motivation, the purpose, and the end state that we need when we’re working for something. In this two-parter, we’ll be covering goal setting and how you can do it most effectively to get where you want to be.
